Current Lab Members

Travis Numan

Travis is a Paiute (Numa) and Shoshone (Newe) man who grew up in Reno, Nevada on the Reno-Sparks Indian Colony and the Pyramid Lake Paiute Reservation. He is now starting his 5th year in the Civil and Environment Engineering PhD program at the University of Nevada Reno.

Alyssa Radakovich

I am from Oswego, Illinois and graduated from Grinnell College with a degree in chemistry. My research focuses on organic pollutant exposure and transport near formerly used defense sites on Unalaska Island as well as developing chemical tags to better understand the structure of pyrogenic organic carbon compounds. When I'm not in the lab, I like to play soccer, run, read, and spend as much time as possible outside.

Anil Timilsina

Anil Timilsina is a Ph.D. student at UNR in Civil and Environmental Engineering, focusing on identifying and quantifying reactive organic carbon compounds using advanced analytical techniques. He employs novel methods to explore and quantify unknown compounds and contaminants in diverse environmental samples.

Sudarshan Basyal

I am from Nepal and started my doctoral journey in the spring of 2024. My research delves into the intricacies of organic carbon in the natural system. I am interested in the use of Click Chemistry to better understand the carbon cycle. I love to watch movies and walk in my spare time.

Undergraduate Students

Stella Abejar

Hello, my name is Stella, I'm an undergraduate Environmental Engineering student working in Dr. Yang's lab. I help Dr. Radakovich with her research and hope to learn more about mass spec data analysis for experience to work in R&D.

Leo Spence

Kenia Zelaya Callejas

Past Lab Members

Abrar Shahriar

Abrar began his Ph.D. program in the fall of 2019 at UNR after relocating to the USA from Bangladesh. His research centered on studying the fate and transport of organic pollutants in the soil-water continuum, along with characterizing soil organic carbon using high-resolution mass spectrometry. He is currently working at Lawrence Livermore National Lab.
